Who it's for

  • Professionals at companies already using Office and Teams who want to draft and organize content directly inside open Word or Excel files without manual uploads.
  • People who join Teams meetings late or miss them entirely and need a clear summary of key decisions and assigned action items.
  • Managers with an overflowing inbox who want to summarize long Outlook email threads and get quick draft replies.

Drawbacks

  • Access to internal company files requires a paid license at $30/month per user, which is a different product from the free Copilot chat.
  • It requires an administrator to deploy it to your organization's account, making it hard for an individual to start on their own.
  • Excel formula calculations and PowerPoint design layouts often still need manual adjustments.

Getting started

  1. Ask your administrator to verify that a license has been assigned to your corporate account.
  2. Open a document in Word, click the Copilot icon, and prompt it: 'Summarize this report into one page.'
  3. Turn on meeting recap in a Teams meeting, then review the decisions and action items after it ends.
  4. Open a long thread in Outlook to view a summary, and choose a tone to draft your reply.
  5. Ask Copilot chat to locate company files, such as: 'Where are last week's sales figures?'
