Who it's for

  • Anyone who wants to open a sidebar to summarize, translate, and ask questions while reading articles, blogs, or papers. Not having to switch tabs is its biggest advantage.
  • Anyone who wants to quickly summarize YouTube videos using subtitles and ask follow-up questions in the same window. You can decide whether to watch without sitting through the whole video.

Drawbacks

  • There is no free tier on the pricing page. You need to subscribe starting from the $25/month Lite plan to use the installed extension.
  • Having the extension icon always visible on pages can feel cluttered. You can exclude specific sites in the settings.
  • Summaries do not pinpoint exact source locations, making it unsuitable for precise citations.

Getting started

  1. Install the Sider extension from the Chrome Web Store and sign up.
  2. Click the sidebar icon on the right of any webpage to bring up page summary and translation buttons.
  3. On YouTube, a summary button appears next to the video. Click it to generate a Korean summary based on the subtitles.
  4. Use the input box below the summary to ask follow-up questions, like 'Explain point 3 in more detail.'
  5. If you use it often, check the model limits on the pricing page and pick a plan. Install the mobile and desktop apps to continue the same conversations.
