Who it's for
- People who want a summary of what's being talked about right now on X (Twitter). Searching live posts to answer is what most sets it apart from other chatbots
- People who want to bat ideas around in a casual tone, or write posts with memes and humor mixed in
- People who want to use image generation often for free. The limits are looser than at other services
Drawbacks
- The default tone is light and the filtering is loose, so for work or class you have to specify a tone every time — "politely, facts only"
- Because it answers on the basis of X posts, unverified rumors can slip in, so fact-checking has to happen separately
- The free plan allows few messages per hour, and the paid plan is pricier than other services
Getting started
- Sign in on the official site with an X or Google account. You can also use it from the Grok tab inside the X app.
- Ask with "sum up the recent reactions on X too" and it searches live posts to answer.
- For work use, put "answer politely and stick to the facts" in the first line.
- Make pictures with "generate an image of...". Check the terms for the copyright policy on generated images.
- Open the links to the posts cited as evidence and check what they actually say.
